Guilin University of Electronic Technology was founded in 1960. After the development of 60 years, GUET has formed a discipline system that focuses on engineering, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as science, economics, management, literature, law and arts, and distinctive electronic information disciplines. Engineering, Materials Science, and Computer Science were ranked in the top 1% of the global ESI. GUET has 3 postdoctoral research stations and provides 5 PhD programs, 20 master programs and 79 undergraduate programs, including 20 national-level programs and 12 programs with CEEAA qualification.

  GUET has established strong cooperative relations with more than 80 universities and academic institutions in countries along the Belt and Road, Asia, Europe, America, Oceania and Africa, and selects excellent teachers and students to study in overseas universities and recruits international students to GUET every year. GUET is the recipient university of the Chinese Government Scholarship, Silk Road Scholarship and Guangxi government ASEAN Scholarship of Ministry of education. GUET has one undergraduate project of Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running School with University of Arkansas at Little Rock of the United States and one jointly established Confucius Institute with Battambang University of Cambodia.
